First Annual Soccer Camp

June 2009 Camp

Camp was a big success and the feedback from players and parents was very positive. Kids from all around the area attended and the coaching staff included experience from the Columbus Crew, University of Notre Dame, Harvard University as well as several area High Schools and travel clubs.

Daily Skill Development

Monday: Dribbling; Ben's story related to his 'coachability'. He was a player every coach wanted to have because he listened to what the coach was telling him and was determined to improve his game and the game of others around him.

Tuesday: Passing; Ben's story related to his personal dedication to proper nutrition

Wednesday: Ball Mastery; Ben's story related to how his hard work in this area paid off with a game winning goal.

Thursday: Finishing; Ben's story related his character through leadership and by example

Friday: Soccer Olympics; Ben's story was the story of 'the school bus'. Ben always said 'thank you' when he got off the bus. One day the school bus had a substitute driver. The kids on the bus were loud and unruly, throwing things and being rude. When Mrs. Vaughn returned the following day she lectured the kids on their behavior before letting them off the bus. Ben waited to be the last one off the bus and said "Mrs. Vaughn I'm sorry. I didn't throw anything or say anything, but I didn't do anything to make a difference either. Next time, I'll make a difference"
