A Special Thanks from the Elo Family
One of Ben’s friends from Kindergarten has been an ever present part of keeping Ben’s memory alive through this website. As Travis Cunningham prepares for college, as Ben should be, we want to take a moment to recognize Travis’ hard work and dedication to Ben’s memory. Travis created, designed and maintained everything you’ve seen here on the Ben Elo Memorial Website since its inception at the end of 2008. We are grateful for all he’s done and wish him the very best as he prepares for life in college.
We are blessed with another family friend who’s agreed to pick up where Travis leaves off. Emily S. Armstrong is our new Webmaster. We look forward to seeing her creativity at work. Welcome Emily and thanks! Should you have any suggestions on things you’d like to see on the site, a Ben story you’d like to share or a general suggestion please let us know.
Live your faith to affect change!
God Bless,
—-The Elo Family

Thoughts from the Elo Family:
Romans 5:
“And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”
“God did not take Ben, but He didn’t save him either. But He does all things for His greater glory. And we’ve discovered in these last several days that Ben may have served God greater in going home than if he’d stayed with us much longer.
There is a difference between having your faith and living your faith. Ben lived his faith—it was ingrained in every aspect of his life. As parents, want we wanted most for our children was a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We felt that if we surrounded our children in faith (in school, in church, in our home) that we would have done all we could do.
So I feel Ben would want me to say two things to you all today:
First:
However Ben touched you —a kind word— a smile at just the right time—talking with you about God and faith—making good choices….whatever it was WOULD YOU DO IT FOR OTHERS FROM NOW ON AND THINK OF BEN WHEN YOU DO? If everyone touched by Ben reached out and touched someone else, think how many people Ben will have touched. Probably more than if he touched them one at a time through his lifetime here with us.
Second:
Ben would want you to know Jesus Christ as your personal savior. He did and his life was blessed for it. Don’t put that off because there may not be a tomorrow. Ben lived his faith and it drew people to him. Let Christ change how you live.
Parents—take your children to church. But living your faith is more than taking up pew space on Sunday. It’s about praying before dinner and talking with your children about where you saw God today. It’s about God being present in every choice you make and teaching your children that. Living your faith should change who you are.
There are no words to explain the pain, but the constant outpouring of love and support of so many has lifted us from the pit of despair to sadness. We will be forever grateful for each and every one of you and each and every prayer.
We pray God works in all your hearts in honor of Ben.”
